SOS Crush: Courtnee Crews

The SOS team’s current obsession is the super cool girl Courtnee Crews and her eclectic style. Her curated Instagram feed (@courtneeruthie) features the cutest dress and coolest sneakers. Her style is a combo of bucket hats, smock dresses, and neon colors meets pantsuits, gingham and tie-dye. Courtnee just recently moved to L.A from Louisiana (woohoo!) so we asked her favorite L.A places she’s been to and secret spots to hang. She also shares with us how she pulls off her signature look — a mix-and-match color story.

“The trick to ‘pulling something off’ is simply putting it on. And then everyone sees you pulling it off :)  I believe there are no right or wrongs in fashion if it makes you feel confident and happy.

You just recently moved to L.A, how do you like L.A so far and how is L.A different from you are from?

I love it! I’m from a small town in Louisiana so it is basically different in every way. There are so many more people! There is always something new to do and something new to eat. Which I’m a fan of! I’m not used to traffic or having to find parking, but I think it’s a pretty fair trade :)

What’s your favorite place you’ve been to in L.A so far?

Anywhere with a view of the ocean and the mountains. It’s honestly so beautiful, and I’m so lucky to be able to live here. I don’t ever want to forget that.

“The beauty about L.A is that you never know what can happen. And I’ve learned that you can do anything you set your mind and heart to.”

What’s a secret spot to grab brunch or to hang out?

I’m a sucker for food. Especially authentic Chinese! There’s a little place in Studio City called “Shanghai Rose.” I’m there multiple times a week getting traditional dim sum.

What are you most excited about/to do next in L.A?

To be completely honest, I’m pretty excited all of the time! Haha! This is such a different life than I’ve ever had or expected. I’m mostly excited about not knowing the next opportunities that may unfold for me. The beauty about L.A is that you never know what can happen. And I’ve learned that you can do anything you set your mind and heart to.

Your style is so fun and you wear a lot of colors, what advice would you give to someone who wants to wear more colors?

WEAR IT! I always hear people say “I could never pull that off!” But the trick to “pulling something off” is simply putting it on. And then everyone sees you pulling it off :)  I believe there are no right or wrongs in fashion if it makes you feel confident and happy.
