Getting Unready With Me and My Current Skincare Routine

Getting unready is just as important, if not more important than getting ready. When you get home after a long day, you want to give your body and mind the rest that it deserves. The end of the day is a perfect time to focus on self care and one way I like to do this is to take the time to do a full nighttime skincare routine. Getting unready is not just when makeup and clothes come off; it is also when you can unload things off your mind. Do this by spending some quality time with yourself and taking good care of your skin.

Watch the full routine here.

Step 1: Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil

This is my all time favorite cleanser because it is very gentle for my sensitive skin. It contains Squalane oil which is a natural antioxidant derived from sugarcane. This is also a good time to do a facial massage. The oil makes it really easy for your fingers to move across your face and the temperature of your hands helps melt the makeup away. Starting from my cheeks to eyes and forehead, I massage in a combination of circular and lifting motions. For the best result, rinse with warm water.

Step 2: Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser

I like to double cleanse with a non-oil based cleanser. This one by Tata Harper also has a light exfoliating effect that is gentle enough for everyday use.

Step 3: Bioderma Micellar Water

After cleansing, I do a little test using a cotton pad soaked with the Bioderma Michellar Water to check if there’s any makeup residue left on my skin. I usually find makeup left along my hairline.

Step 4: AHC Aqualuronic Toner

I just ran out of my favorite SK-II Facial Treatment Lotion Toner but will probably wait on restocking because I am really loving this new AHC Aqualuronic Toner (similar here). I tried the Korean skincare trend of applying toner 7 times, which is not usually part of my daily routine. I personally don’t think it is necessary to use that much product but I do like to throughly pat for maximum absorption.

Step 5: Honest Beauty Honestly Pure Retinol Serum + Honest Beauty Vitamin C Radiance Serum with Artichoke & Clover Extracts

My biggest skin concern is sun spots. When I use to surf, I didn’t have the best habit of using sunscreen which led to some sun damage. I now use products with Vitamin C that target uneven skin tones and brightens dark spots.

My ultra-sensitive skin doesn’t always do well with retinol but my skin has been loving this one by Honest Beauty.

Step 6: Cle De Peau Enhancing Eye Contour Cream

I love this eye cream for its super rich consistency that leaves the skin around my eyes nourished and hydrated. When applying eye cream, I always spread some of the extra product onto my forehead and laugh lines. I like to massage around my eyes for better absorption.

Step 7: Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil

This is my favorite oil for spring and summer. I apply it all over my face with lifting strokes.

Step 8: Avene XeraCalm A.D. Liquid-Replenishing Cream

This cream has a very thick texture so I don’t recommend it for everyday use, especially if you have oily skin. However, I love it for my dry and sensitive skin and this is probably one of the most gentle creams I’ve used.
