Styling Tips, Color Trend and More From Fashion Week

Dress Over Pants

Another trend that I am digging is the dress-over-pants styling. This could be a new way to wear your favorite summer dresses in the winter. The most fail-safe way of working this trend is to match the color of the pants to the dress, or vise versa. Ryan Roche styled an off-the-shoulder midi dress over a pair of wide-leg trousers in the same color. Likewise, Proenza Schouler chose a pair of fitted suit trousers to go with the main color of the dress. The main take-away from these fire looks is that the dress needs to be loose-fitted and not cinched at the waist. If you can confidently work this type of look, you will be a step ahead of everyone who wears dresses with over-the-knee boots in the winter.

Burgundy Tones

As much as I love neutral and camel tones, my NYFW outfits have been nothing but full of colors. My favorite colors from the runway are these rich and luxurious plum burgundy tones. I’ve been loving this color since my Celine suits that I wore during the last Paris Fashion Week. I was so excited to see this color on shows like Tibi, Oscar de la Renta, Zimmermann, just to name a few.

Here are some pieces in this color that I can’t wait for you to try.

1. Something Navy V-neck Sweater in Burgundy
2. Tibi Cozette Alpaca & Wool Blend Crop Sweater in Dark Currant
3. Mango Faux Fur Jacket in Maroon (On sale)
4. Topshop Satin PJ Shirt in Rust
5. Vince Boyfriend Blazer (On sale)
6. Mango Straight Suit Trousers

These dresses and knitwear would have been just another dress and knitwear without the cutout design. The carefully placed cutouts reveal just enough amount of bare skin to catch someone’s attention. Dion Lee, Proenza Schouler and Bevza have given these looks so much more by “cutting” away a few square inches of fabric.

Thankfully, sweaters and dresses with cutouts are easy to find. If you never paid much attention to them, you might want to give a second look at these fun and beautiful pieces.

1. RTA X Revolve Corin Cutout Dress
2. Isabel Marant Shoulder Cutout Sweater
3. LNA Annika Cutout Top
4. Lovers + Friends Miller Cutout Sweater
5. Temperley London Cutout Knit Sweater
6. For Love & Lemons Emerie Cutout Dress
