Office Tour: The guest bedroom makeover

August 20, 2018 - 27 Comments

Lately, I’ve really been wanting to redecorate my office guest room, so when Urban Outfitters reached out to me, I was so excited to work with them on the project! I’ve been traveling so much, and haven’t had time to put my office together the way I’ve wanted to. I’ve been wanting to redecorate the office guest room for a long time, and for a while, I even avoided using the space at all. This was the room before:

This is a picture of the room after:  First, I switched out the white bedding for an Urban Outfitters grey duvet to add a more neutral layer of color to the space. Then, I added two Urban Outfitter textured throw pillows to create contrast in pattern and materials. Juxtaposing textures and colors can really give a space more dimension. In order to make the room feel much cozier, I layered this geometric, woven Urban Outfitters neutral rug over a pink patterned rug I bought from the flea market (similar here). I love the woven details of the Urban Outfitters rug, and the symmetry it creates in the space. Also, the rug really lightens the room, and offsets the more colorful decor items. Also, the Urban Outfitters wooden shoe racks really make the room homier: it’s a great spot for me to keep some shoes at the office, and also gives my guests more storage space for when they come to stay! There’s nothing more inviting than a cushy couch chair! I stacked two Urban Outfitters floor pillows with a matching Urban Outfitters back cushion pillow to create a large comfy seat, and now I always want to curl up on the chair and read a book or catch up on emails. I finished off this corner of the room with some succulents and a few of my favorite coffee table books.  Adding living plants and flowers to any space always makes the room more inviting. How cute are these Urban Outfitters female form mugs? Since I am an admirer of women’s bodies of all shapes and sizes, I got the mugs in different colors.I especially loved this statuesque mug, and thought it would make the room more unique if I used it as a pot for a succulent instead of for drinking coffee! Also, I like to have mismatched dishware so everything isn’t too perfect. These Urban Outfitter mix + match plates really went with the eclectic vibe I was going for.

When I was in my 20s, I struggled to find home decor items, because everything that I liked was outside of my budget. That’s why Urban Outfitters is the perfect place to shop for home decor if you need to find affordable items that still feel unique and sophisticated. When it came to redecorating the guest room, I wanted to make the room more colorful, and have a cozier, bohemian vibe. I love eclectic bedrooms, because they feel much more homey and inviting than stark, white spaces. When I have guests come to stay over, I want to make them feel at home. Urban Outfitters has so many incredible bohemian pieces.
