Designer Spotlight: Jacquemus

March 28, 2018 - 26 Comments

Jacquemus is a designer I wanted to spotlight for you guys. You may have seen me wear his designs, and if you have not heard of the brand, you have for sure seen their shoes and their bags. Or you might have seen it on different celebrities….Designer Simon Porte Jacquemus established Jacquemus in 2009 at 19 years old in Paris. His recent collections are dramatic and oversized (like the giant hat he debuted) but his pieces are still very wearable. To me, a Jacquemus woman is someone who’s very sexy and elegant. When I wear his clothes, I feel understated, yet alluring. It is empowering to feel like that. Trust me, you will feel this way too when you wear these silhouettes.Inspirations from his most recent collections include his childhood in the South of France and Morocco. That is why you see many neutral tones, deep yellows, and rust oranges. His keen eye to shapes is prevalent in the geometric heels of his shoes and the exaggerated silhouettes of his clothing. I’ve worn Jacquemus around Los Angeles and while at Miami Art Basel. Below are those times.
This day in LA required a light weight blouse because it was summer. I wore this Jacquemus cotton tie shoulder top to keep cool. It looks like it is two pieces, but it isn’t! I wore this Jacquemus linen dress on a hot day in LA. The fabric was, “easy, breezy, beautiful… Jacquemus,” in the dry heat of the city.  For a minute can we just remember me wearing this Jacquemus wrap polka dot top before polka dots were huge?! Kinda cool I wore polka dots before they became a trend. I wore it biking around LA on a summer day. This is a more recent photo of me at Miami Art Basel in Jacquemus. I paired my Jacquemus exaggerated puff sleeve top with Self-Portrait patent leather pants (similar here). This look was easily one of my favorites at Miami Art Basel because of the sick sleeves on this top.

Below are some of my top Jacquemus investment pieces.

5. Navy Ruched Midi Dress

7. Black Square and Chain Handbag
8. Black Ruched Mini Dress
