Trend Watch: Pretty Pastels

Goodbye millennial pink, lilac is the new IT shade. For the past 2 seasons, I have seen lilac all over the runway (Tibi, Phillip Lim, and Victoria Beckham showed it just to name a few.) and for good reason. So naturally, I had to try out the color palette during New York fashion week. I wore this Tibi lilac pleated mock neck top (also available in yellow). The color is so feminine and the mock neck with thinly pleated sleeve details gives the shirt some interest. I originally planned to wear a different coat but I saw this  Lovers + Friends faux fur coat (similar here and here, also a yellow version here) from my makeup artist Nam Vo and decided to borrow it because it matched my purple top.Nam also matched my eye makeup with my outfit. I rarely wear colorful eyeshadows on my eyes because I thought the idea was hard to pull off with Asian eyes, but I like how Nam did it on me. She used a Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Orchid on my lids and the Laura Mercier Face Illuminating Powder in Addiction for highlights as well as my inner corners on my eyesThe light blue of the coat next to the lilac color of the shirt pairs well together. To keep the glam vibes going I wore Oscar de la Renta  celestial swarovski crystal earrings (similar here and they’re on sale! and similar here). The moon shape makes them cool and I like celestial jewelry. They add a little twinkle to the look but weren’t too heavy on my ears. I decided to contrast the luxe upper half of my outfit by wearing GRLFRND straight leg denim jeans (similar here, here and also here). They toned down my outfit to be more laid back, but still let all the colors I was wearing stand out. For my bag I wore my Oscar de la Renta denim crossbody bag. I like how the bag is constructed with denim giving it a more casual feel. Also, I appreciated the detailed flower on the flap as a feminine touch. These Stella Luna sock booties (similar here) are so sick. The sock over your shoe trend is still alive and well so incorporating it into my look was a must. They have been all over street style and the runway. You can buy them or DIY make them at home.
Special shoutout to our NYFW driver DAVE, who drove us around safely and on time every single day in my favorite XC90. My first Volvo experience was last year during NYFW and I loved the car so much that I bought myself a Volvo after not having a car for over two years. I have to say, changing into a couple of outfits in this car was super easy thanks to how spacious it was plus I always had good music with great speakers.

If you’ve been watching our NYFW vlogs, you’re probably not the only one that fell in love with Dave. He seriously is THE BEST driver ever and I feel so spoiled and grateful we had him again this season! Thank you again to Volvo (by the way, this isn’t a paid partnership) for hooking us up with the car and DAVE! Tibi Pleated Top (also available in yellow!)
