Shearling Coat and Hiking Boots in NYC

February 8, 2018 - 36 Comments

Before the chaos erupts that is known as NYFW, I was off-duty and had some time to get errands done. It was snowing when I woke up and I was in awe of the winter wonderland. I knew I would be running around all day but immediately I knew exactly what to wear when I saw the snow, my reversable shearling coat (super similar here) I was going to a Chloé event in town so I wore my Chloé brown shearling coat (Under $150 similar here and here), which is the thickest coat I bought. Since I don’t get the chance to wear this coat in Los Angles, I wanted to wear it in New York. It keeps me toasty when the air is frigid. An added bonus is the plush fabric makes it feel as if I am wearing a blanket without it being too bulky. I layered it over a 525 America white knit turtleneck (similar here). I brought three turtlenecks and underneath this one I wore a Uniqlo heattech shirt to keep me extra warm.
With all the snow, that meant ice would come with it and the ground would be slippery. My solution was to wear Altuzarra track sole combat boots (affordable here and here), I swear by hiking boots in the winter because they are essential for their traction to grip the ground (my top picks are on my hiking boot shopping guide). They come in handy and I don’t have to worry about slipping and sliding. I was searching for a pair of non-distressed jeans to pair my boots with but apparently I don’t have any (California girl problems). I decided that a pair of distressed straight leg jeans (similar here and here) would look great with the boots. And as you know, I can’t stop wearing straight leg denim.I grabbed my Chloé mini bijou shoulder bag and was out the door. You’ve seen me wear the mini bag for many years and I love the upgraded version with the chain strap. This bag carries everything I need and the color adds a pop to my outfit.I later dressed up my look with a Chloé blazer. Blazers make me feel more put together because they add a polished element to an outfit and I needed to dress up my look. This one is velvet making the texture luxurious and the print of horses all over is chic and fun. Seeing as I changed my outerwear, I decided to change my shoes into Louis Vuitton hiking boots (Under $200 super similar here). It was still snowing so I needed to make sure that the track sole would be able to steady me on the slippery ground. I like when I can change up my look without changing my entire outfit. It saves me time and energy.Chloé Shearling Jacket (under $150 similar here and here)
