My Favorite Pieces From 2017

Friday Favorites has easily become one of my favorite things I started this year! I remember it just being an idea that my team and I threw around, but now it’s such a big part of the blog. From beauty products to books and from food to fashion, I love sharing everything that has been on repeat in my life. Since this is the last Friday Favorites of 2017, I wanted to do a round-up of my favorite things from this year!
1. Something Navy Crew Neck Sweater – This sweater is not only super warm but it also comes in other colors. You can see my latest outfit wearing this sweater here!
2. Chanel Slingback Pumps – Technically these pumps have been my favorite pair of shoes since the minute they came out. They’re literally the most versatile shoes I own that can go from casual to dressy and always makes me look pulled together. I even got them in the exact same camel and black captoe combo but in leather for my mom as a Christmas present! I found an exact version of my Chanel’s here and they’re only $150!
3. Tibi Blazer – You’ve seen me wear this blazer way too many times so it definitely made my 2017 favorite list! I found some similar ones for you guys here, here and here.
4. Avène Xeracalm – This is my go-to moisturizer! It’s fragrance free, free of any harsh chemicals, and super hydrating. I’ve mentioned it recently on the blog here. You can watch what made beauty products I loved and hated in 2017 in my Empties video.
5. Bioderma Micellar Water – I can easily remove any make-up with this cleansing water, even waterproof make-up as mentioned here.6. Personalized Travel Beauty Case – I love my The Daily Edited monogram beauty case and my pink Away beauty case (affordable here). They are the perfect beauty cases to take on any trip. I love that you can monogram the one from The Daily Edited to make it more personal. I also have a monogram iPhone case from The Daily Edited and I have to say it is the perfect accessory for a mirror selfie.
7. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*CK – By far, one of my favorite books I read this year. For so long, I had trouble letting shit go, and would care way too much about shit that doesn’t really matter. This Is Me Letting You Go is another good read especially if you’re looking for short essay types since each chapter is very short. Also, a good book to read if you’re going through a break-up or thinking of one.
8. Chunky Knit Wool Blanket – Thanks to this blanket, I’ve be able to survive the freezing weather in LA and so have my dogs. The blanket is so soft and pretty too!
9. Gold Hoop Earrings – My very first earrings were a pair of gold hoop earrings when I was only a month old. Yep, I was just 30 days old when I got both of my ears pierced and I’ve been rocking a pair of gold hoops since 1986. This year, a simple pair of gold hoops were almost my everyday staple and I when I lost one of the earrings, I bought the exact same pair again from Macy’s.
10. Gentle Monster Sunglasses11. Chloe Nile Mini and Pixie Crossbody
12. The Row bow pumps. I bought my very first pair of the Row bow pumps last year in 2016 but wore them to death (literally, I killed the soles had to get them resoled three times!) and even got a brand spanking new pair that looks exactly like it but in white and black instead of the beige and black combo.
13. Basket bag. Honestly this year’s most popular bag was probably the basket bag, making it a fashion girl favorite and I fell victim to this trend that’s not really a trend because I promise you, basket bags were cool even before they became mainstream. Remember those iconic images of Jane Birken and her basket bag? Anyways, basket bags replaced fancy handbags and made my outfits even more effortless. I didn’t feel bad if I just threw them around, they were fun to carry around from summer to now. The most popular shapes were probably the small circular ones as well as Cult Gaia’s basket bag. My personal favorite is the slightly bigger ones like this and this.
14. Frame Le Straight Denim – they’re slightly high waisted, super straight, and honestly wore them way too much that I got an exact same pair so I can wear them basically everyday. It looks like I only own one pair of denim but let’s be real, I own two. haha
15. Raye Denim – Another favorite fit of mine. I’m definitely a boyfriend jeans type of girl but I retired my boyfriend jeans and went with the straight-legged fit that was still boyfriend like in terms of flare (slightly wide, oversized fit) but looks much more polished.
16. Self Portrait Asymmetrical Ruffle Blouse. or anything in Self Portrait because you know it’s one of my absolute favorite labels and Han, the designer is the sweetest person. I’d say all of his dresses are my favorite but this year I wore a lot of his blouses especially in this silhouette. With the ruffles and asymmetrical detail, it was perfect to pair with my denim for a casual everyday look and was super easy to dress up with just a pair of black pants. A similar and affordable version here.
17. Kendrick Lamar’s Damn Album – This was my 2017 anthem. I’ve been a die hard Kendrick Lamar fan since I first heard his mixtape back in 2009 or 2010 (I was living in San Francisco at the time and it made my commute to school and work bearable) and when this album dropped, I had it on repeat almost to a daily basis to the point, people didn’t want me to DJ anymore because they were tired of hearing his songs in my playlist. His song LOVE is the song I listen to when I cool down after a work-out and even though I’m THE worst when it comes to lyrics, I know all the words to Humble. I saw him perform live three times this year and I’ll never get tired of him performing.
18. Frank Ocean – Ok, since I’m talking about music, another of my 2017 anthem was Frank Ocean’s music. He blessed us with four new tracks and two features. Chanel, Provider, Biking, and Slide were all on repeat.19. Louis Vuitton Rolling Luggage – When the Paris Louis Vuitton team spoiled me with my own monogrammed carry on Louis Vuitton luggage, I made sure to travel with it all around the world. Seriously, my absolute favorite suitcase ever!!! The wheels and design on this suitcase makes traveling so easy and also looks so good even on my worst travel days.
20. Fragrance. This may come to you as a surprise but I’m not an everyday fragrance person. I reserve my fragrance for special occasions and the three fragrances I used the most this year was Women by Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton Rose des Vents, and Aerin Gardenia.
