Wow–I’ve been to Iceland before, so I didn’t realize how shocked I could still be by how beautiful it is. I thought I would just go and enjoy it again, but really every time you turn your head, your breath is taken away! I think it’s the most amazing country I’ve been to because of the scenery and I’m so happy that I got to go back with Ole Henriksen. In this post, I wanted to create a guide for you so that you know exactly where to go and what to see when you’re in Iceland! We stayed at the Ion Adventure Hotel, which was about 45 minutes outside of Reykjavik and it was one of the coolest hotels I’ve ever stayed at! Every room has huge windows that overlook the beautiful landscape, and they have a heated pool outside so you can swim even when it’s snowing! Since it’s a lava pool, it’s even good for your skin. Check out the tires on that truck! The terrain is so different everywhere–sometimes snow, sometimes sand, and you need some serious tires to be able to drive everywhere. Make sure if you’re renting a car, you get 4-wheel-drive. The last time Jacopo and I were in Iceland, we had 4WD, and you could really tell the difference between us and people with 2-wheel-drive. Not only do you need heavy duty tires, but the same goes for your footwear. I wore my sturdiest Jimmy Choo snow boots (60% off and even more affordable version here) that have really great grip on the bottom, AG jeans, and a Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren puffy coat (similar here).
Visiting the amazing black sand beaches in Vik. This absolutely has to be on your Iceland itinerary. Make sure that you have heavy duty tires on your car though because getting there can be a little rough. I knew I wanted a pop of color to stand out against the black, so I wore a bright blue Tibi wool coat and a blue scarf. Also, you’ll notice I’m wearing a cap in the photo, but if you saw my video (below) you saw that it blew off my head a few times. I definitely recommend wearing a hat, but maybe a beanie instead. Spending some time in the hot springs! Warm body…cold face.Bundled up again in a Mother Denim shearling jacket (only $160 on final sale), a pair of cropped flare jeans, and Stella Luna zipper boots. Also carrying a Chloe mini faye backpack. You should definitely count on a lot of your time in Iceland being spent in hot springs. On this day we had wanted to go to Blue Lagoon, but it was closed so we ended up at a different one called Secret Lagoon. It actually turned out being so much better! I’ve been to Blue Lagoon before, and Secret Lagoon was so much less crowded and didn’t smell so much like sulfur as Blue Lagoon. Blue Lagoon is still a really pretty place, especially if you want that opaque blue water! If you’re looking for the blue water and isolation, check out Lake Myvatn which is in the north near Akureyri. I’m wearing a For Love & Lemons Bikini. Basking in the beautiful nature, wearing FRAME Denim jeans, a Tibi Sweater, and Hunter boots to keep my feet dry. Right behind the hotel were the most amazing hills you could hike. Cubby and I went and we experienced all four seasons in about 2 hours! I was really thankful that I had my rubber boots on because once we got to the top it was all snow! When I think of Iceland, the first things that come to mind are the waterfalls. There are so many breathtaking waterfalls that you can see in pretty much one day if you just drive along the southern coast. This one is called Skogafoss, and it’s one of the most magical places I’ve ever been. You can tell how big it is by how small those people look in the shot! Trying my best to stay warm and dry in The Arrivals shearling jacket (similar 50% off Yeezy Season 3 here), AG Jeans, and my bright red Hunter Boots.Another amazing waterfall is just a short drive from Skogafoss. It’s called Seljalandsfoss (yeah try to pronounce that). One of the coolest parts about this waterfall is that you can get completely behind it!
One of my favorite meals was on our last day in Iceland. We spent the day exploring Reykjavik and stumbled on a restaurant called Sandholt. You definitely need to go!
Reykjavik is such a cute little city. It’s tempting just to stay there the whole time, but make sure you get out and experience the nature! Also, you literally can’t miss it, but there’s a big church in the center of the town called Hallgrimskirka that you absolutely must go inside to see. When we were there they were having choir practice and it was such a magical experience. You can also go to the top of the church to get this amazing view! I suggest doing this early in the morning before there are too many crowds. Then you can make your way down and explore the city.I hope you thought this guide was helpful! Make sure to tag me on Instagram in all of your Iceland photos so I can see that you went! Also, check out my Iceland Vlog below so you get an even better idea of how amazing it is!
