Stars and Sequins in Paris

You all know how much I love mixing prints and colors, but sometimes I like to pare it back and go with something a bit more monochromatic. While I’m keeping the clothes simple, these blue Parisian doorways and gates are helping me keep things colorful. There are times when you want to wear a sequin skirt with a huge slit up one leg even though it’s cold, and other times you really just want to wear the biggest coat and slouchiest pants you own. This was one of those days when I just wanted to be comfy — it was rainy, you can’t blame me!

I never want to take off this Acne Studios coat (color variation here, similar here, affordable here and here). When I get back to LA, where it’s about 85 degrees right now, I’ll probably be forced to, but I’m definitely going to wear it as much as I can until that point! Because this outfit was so simple and muted it was the perfect look to accessorize with some new Elie Saab jewelry (similar here, here, here, and here). Wearing these cute stars on my fingers and ears made me so happy! I love a good statement accessory and these gave my outfit just the sparkle it needed.
The Acne Studios show was actually one of my favorites. If you saw my YouTube video, you know that I was obsessed with the accessories. The sunglasses were so amazing, with mismatched, raw-shape lenses in different colors. It really made me want to design more sunglasses! I was so inspired.

My time in Paris flew by, but one of the most memorable shows of the week was Nina Ricci. Guillaume Henry did such an incredible job with the collection. Every time a piece went down the runway, it made me even more excited to see what would come next. Remember when I mentioned there was a time for a sequin skirt? Well, that time came! To the show I wore a Nina Ricci striped sequin skirt (similar here) with a pretty big slit up one leg. While it was definitely a party on the bottom (especially with the addition of glittery socks), I kept things clean and simple on top — a l’agence double-breasted blazer (similar here and affordable here) which I belted and wore over a basic black turtleneck (similar here and here). I am a firm believer in trying new things, especially when it comes to clothes. If sequins and stripes aren’t part of your usual wardrobe, don’t worry! Just try it out anyway and let the piece shine for itself by keeping the styling simple.I especially love how this skirt looked at night, with the street and car lights reflecting off every single sequin.

  1. Such beautiful outfits! I love the major change between the two looks but even super comfy you look as stylish as ever – the coat and pants make a fabulous combo and the touch of sparkle through the stars elevates the outfit so much!

Plus that sequins skirt – I mean.. wow. There are no words for how gorgeous!

  7. I lived vicariously through you, Irene and Chriselle during the Fashion month. I also love that you went straight from glam to Ethiopia to help the kids out there! You’re really a role model, Aimee..
