Fashion Week New York NYFW Outfit Song of Style

Green Eye Makeup and Polkadot Dress for NYFW

It seems like just the other day I was getting on a plane to New York and now Fashion Week is already over! Because every day was so packed with shows and shoots, the week flew by, and before I knew it I was at one of my last shows — Michael Kors. I was so happy when their team reached out and offered to dress me for their show again! I wanted to do something really fun so I chose this Minnie Mouse-esque green polka dot dress (similar and affordable here and here). One of my favorite details is the relaxed bow tied at the neck — this dress is so playful, but also easy to pare down with a classic navy coat (similar here and here) and sweater vest. When I went in for the fitting, I already had my fishnet tights on as well as these white Topshop croc boots that I’ve been wearing a lil’ too much (I also wore them with this outfit) and was too lazy to take off. When I tried on the dress though, both the MK team and I thought it looked really good with the outfit, so I just keep them in rotation. Now that I look at the photos, I’m not sure if I really love the whole look with the tights. I honestly think it looked better in person than in the photos… Ever happen to you? When you think your outfit is slaying and then you see a photo of yourself in that outfit and it’s not as dope as you thought it was? Anyways… I still love this outfit nonetheless, just not as much with the fishnets. I mean, I can’t always slay… plus, the fishnets, as little as they might be, did somewhat keep me warm…er. Oh, at least my Song of Style x Gentle Monster US 101 sunnies complete my look! The team was also kind enough to gift me this adorable Instax camera, which I used to capture snaps of the event. I love polaroids because they’re small enough to where I can keep them in my purse of wallet. I have so many photos on my phone, but it’s so nice to have physical copies of photos I can carry everywhere with me!

The biggest thank you to Benjamin and my Laura Mercier family for doing my makeup throughout New York Fashion Week! I know you might look at this dress and think, “Woah there is a lot going on here!” but I think this just goes to show you that styling goes a long way! I always love trying new things and having fun with my outfits, rather than sticking to the same thing all the time. I even did something new with my makeup for this look! I usually stick to a natural makeup look using neutral shades (I especially love brown and bronze tones), but I knew I was wearing this standout dress so I wanted to match my eye makeup with it! To get the look, use an eyeliner brush to draw a winged line on your lash line with Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick in “Peacock!”How amazing is Nicholas getting with his photography skills? Usually I have to position him and direct him but now he just gets me! I love this street shot he took of me! Not going to lie, we had to wait a bit in the cold until the car cleared up.

  2. I absolutely love the entire look and the make up as well. The make up looks so natural and flawless. Laura Mercier makeup line seem to have great reviews saw one on the beauty insiders.

  3. I loved the outfit and the white booties is so freaking cute and so you.
I would never thought matching bag and boots would be so cute, only you for to hold them and make the look chic and lovely at same time.

  4. I get your point with the fishnet tights – you might have fallen into the omnipresent fishnet tight trend. BUT it still makes the outfit special, even though I would prefer the version without it too. NEXT time ;)

  5. Omg!! Okay firstly I don’t think the fishnets look that bad – you are still slaying and looking as amazing as ever and I love this dress, it’s something so different from you but you still look gorgeous! The white bag is also gorgeous and of course the sunnies (I finally was able to order a rose gold pair today! can’t wait for them to come!) I love your green eyeliner as well, it’s such a retro look you’re rocking!

  6. Aimee,

I love the edge that the fishnets give this look! You pulled this green color off great and the white leather boots give a perfect retro vibe! Super cute!

  7. I actually think the tights with the outfit looks great in the photos and with the dress and boots overall, such a fun fashion forward look with the polkadot dress! But, I do know what you’re talking about, that’s happened to me so many times, haha. I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far, beauty!

  8. I actually really like the fishnet tights and boots! I feel like they’re necessary to keep the minnie-mouse-esque dress from looking too cutesy.

So sad that NYFW is over, but I’m looking forward to PFW! Fashion week street style is one of my primary sources of inspiration so I love seeing these looks!
