Job Site to Date Night Denim

As an interior architect, I’m really involved in all of the renovations of me new house. This means that I’m on the job site early in the morning, running back and forth to Home Depot, lifting heavy bags of concrete, and sometimes even laying the tile in the shower. If that was my only job, getting dressed in the morning would be a piece of cake–jeans and sneakers and then out the door! A lot of times though, I have to take meetings during the day for different things, or I’ll have dinner plans without having time to really get ready. On days like this, I like to wear easy and versatile pieces that I can easily swap out.I’ve had these Frame Denim jeans (similar here) on repeat for the last like 5 days in a row because it’s so easy to wear anything with them. In the morning when I head to the new house, I throw on something basic and warm, like this black turtleneck, with my Nike Roshe Run sneakers, and if it’s extra chilly, I’ll wear another layer like this Madewell sweater coat, then throw my stuff into a neutral bag, like this Chloe Inez with grey python (similar here, here, and here). Sometimes I shower.
Quick change after the job site. Changed from the black turtleneck into this chunkier grey one from Madewell, and took my sneakers off, switching them out for these velvet ankle strap pumps. They also come in black, and there’s a similar pink velvet flat version. Also, everything on Madewell is 25% off with the code LATEBIRD. I swear this isn’t sponsored by Madewell.. I’ve just been pretty obsessed lately.Voilà! Ready for the rest of my day and I didn’t even have to stop at home first.

  3. Those are the sweetest shoes ever! I love how they’re also ballerina inspired, I wonder if these are going to wipe out the lace up trend from last summers flats!

Really loving this versatile outfit! By changing simply the shoes, and adding that coat back in, this outfit is instantly appropriate for both work and a night out <3 :) Loving your style so much!

  5. I’ve always wanted to go to Art Basel, and it’s on my to do list for next year! Miami is one of my favorite destinations in the US, so combine that with a winter getaway and some of the coolest art I’ve seen a while, and it sounds like the perfect week! I loved following along your trip. http://www.bagseshow.com

  6. Great outfits!! Love the velvet shoes! I like changing my shoes too, so with the same outfit I can have different styles. Nice post!

  7. I understand you completely. I’m doing the interior design of my own house too at the moment and it is so much work. I have to check on the workers all the time, run down to the store….and all the time it is decisions, decisions, decisions…..but it is so worth it. Designing your own home is such a privilege, I think. It is a labour of love.

but please be careful with heavy lifting…it can damage your spine. My grandmother has had so much neck problems because she lifted heavy concrete bags (she did a lot of work setting the stone, tiles. in her homes..and really it is amazing what she knows how to do, she’s like a mix of an artist and a construction expert, I learned so much things from her from embroidery to construction work).

You look fantastic…love your casual styling! those velvet shoes are dreamy.

  8. I love how casual and comfy the overall outfit is. Easy for on-the-go, yet still rather expensive-looking. The fabrics and little details make the look. Absolute perfect<3

  10. I love the interplay between the different textures–velvet shoes, chunky knit, python bag. Perfect complement to the monochromatic ensemble!

  11. I love the velvet shoes < 3 I can't believe this is the first time I comment…. you were one of the bloggers who inspired me to start a blog of my own. Keep inspiring us <3

I love how you are wearing the same brand as meT^T<3
I have the same coat, but in camel and I LOVE IT.

  13. I completely understand, as an architecture student these past semesters have been only messy model making. So it’s great making basics work out for the entire day!
