Fashion Week Skincare Routine

During fashion week, I barely get any sleep. I go to shows during the day, eat, then go to an event or two (or three sometimes) at night then come home and work on my blog, email, and my design project. By the time I shower and sleep, it’s around 3am. Sometimes, even later! If you’ve seen my late night/early morning snapchats (hey, let’s be buddies! Mines @songofstyle) you’d know my 3am antics! Anyways, because of that, I feel like my skin suffers the most so I make sure to pack the best skin products that’ll help me look awake and young!aimee_song_of_style_sheseido_cream_lamer_skincare_beauty_reviewMorning

Skin Inc Serum – I start off with my customized Skin Inc serum which consists of Ceramide, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin A which are good for hydration, dullness, and replenishes the skin. I’ve been using this serum for over a year and love what it’s doing to my skin.

Kate Somerville Eye Cream – I smize (smiling with your eyes) a lot and wear contacts so I’m definitely trying to take care the areas around my eyes. I’ve been using this eye cream for about 2 weeks now and really like it because it’s not runny.

La Mer Illuminating Gel – When I didn’t get enough sleep and have dark circles or when I eat Mexican food late at night and wake up with puffy eyes due to all the salty chips I ate the night before, this is what I use. I think it’s super anti-aging but for me it works better to get rid of puffiness.

Skin Inc Hydrating Shield – Right after my serum, I apply this product and use it as a light moisturizer. It’s really calming and light and is suppose to protect the skin. My sister and I have completely different skin types (I’m extra dry, she’s super oily) but we both really like this one. I just finished my first bottle and definitely going to get a new one.

Lancome Bienfait Sunscreen SPF 50 – It’s super liquidy so I like that it doesn’t leave my face white. Usually when I’m traveling, I use my La Mer The SPF 30 UV Protecting Fluid which is amazing because it’s not greasy. I kind of use it as a primer.

Origins Clean Energy Gentle Cleansing Oil – Because I have very sensitive skin due to my eczema, choosing the right cleanser is very important for me. I love this because it’s so gentle yet removes my makeup.

Estée Lauder Take It Away Makeup Remover – I think eyes are the most sensitive area so you don’t want anything harsh. This works really well to remove mascara and my eyeshadow that I put on during fashion month.

Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega Mushroom Cleanser – This cleanser is gentle as well so I use it with my cleansing oil but it’s not good enough to remove the entire makeup by itself. It’s actually really calming and moisturizing as well.

Clarisonic Cleansing System – After I wash my face with an oil cleanser, I usually put a regular cleanser (or the cleanser that comes with the Clarisonic) on the Clarisonic brush and then cleanse my face all around. I don’t always travel with this because it is slightly heavy (although by not much) but whenever I have a lot of makeup and use this, I see a difference in my skin.

Skin Inc Pure Revival Peel – Sometimes I use this in the shower after cleansing, and sometimes I use it in the morning before I put on my makeup. It cleans away all the dead skin cell, leaving your skin smooth because you need to have clean skin in order to absorb all the products you are applying.

After dabbing on Vanicream (super moisturzing lotion without parabens, scent, etc.) these are the products I use to keep my skin hydrated throughout the night.

Sulwhasoo Essential Firming Cream – It keeps my skin super moisturized and tight. I also use their Perfecting Cushion Foundation Compact as my foundation which provides really great coverage and feels super light and moisturizing.

Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Cream – Gosh, I have so many freckles no matter how much sunscreen I put so I’m trying to get rid of them by using different whitening/brightening creams. I really really like the Skin Inc Snow White Mask but the cream is super white so I look like a ghost! So when I’m traveling and staying with friends (or my boyfriend) I use this brightening moisturizing cream instead.

La Mer Creme de la Mer Moisturizing Cream – My absolute favorite despite the price. I take a small amount, rub it in between my fingers then apply it on my face and it’s the most moisturizing thing ever.

Skin Inc. Deepsea Hydrating Mask – I use this on the plane, at home, and when I travel. It’s super, super moisturizing so I leave it on my face overnight and wash it off in the morning.

  2. Love this! I have such a hard time with skincare because I also have eczema, so this was really great for me!

  3. I like how you snuck in the info about ‘my boyfriend’. Haha, nosy people want to know more. ☺️ Great skin care tips. I’m embracing the multiple product technique.

  4. love skincare posts! I’m a dermatologist in training so I’m a huge proponent of taking care of your largest organ :)

  5. Wow, I wish I had a skin routine like this! My eye-cream and moisturizer use came from my not-so-frequent digging into my mom’s cabinet which is piled high with Lancome skincare. Now that I live on my own, its all about drugstore buys and Olay is about as fancy (and as much as my wallet can handle) as I get. *Product Envy*

  6. Now that’s why you always look so fresh despite this crazy schedule :) I was seriously wondering how you could look so flawless with this little sleep and all the hectic around.
Thanks for sharing your fashion-week secrets.

  8. Wow, you must be very disciplined in your skincare routine! I have yet a thing or two to learn, ’cause I only use a (Kanebo) night cream and that’s it. But I also never wear makeup, so I reckon less cleansing is required (nothing to take off at night ;-) )

  9. Love posts about skin care routines! I’m working on figuring out mine (at 24, you’d think I’d have it figured out by now, sheesh!) so it’s great to see posts like this so I can have a little more direction when choosing products. I do love Origins though!

  10. Great post, Aimee! Thanks for sharing these with us! My skin gets very dry as I get older, especially during winter, so I want to give Vanicream a go as you recommend it so much! Also, will save to get that Creme de La Mer!! ;)

    Love,

  11. For the longest time, I said I wouldn’t get La Mer because it was just too expensive. But as I’m getting older, I think it’s a smarter decision. I definitely want to try the La Mer Eye Gel. I remember you mentioning it before and I’ve heard others mention it before and my undereyes are one of my bigger problem spots.

    Thank you for sharing!

  12. Love all of the products you mentioned :)
I’ve been meaning to get an eye cream (reaching mid-twenties now, so I think it’s a good time to start), but never got around to it.
Thank you so much for recommending the Kate Somerville! <3 Will definitely give it a try!

And I was happy to know that we use some similar products too (Shiseido and Sulwhasoo) :D

  14. Thanks for sharing. I love most of these products too and will have to try the ones I’m not familiar with! Recently, I’ve switched from La Mer Cream to Natura Bisse . I highly recommend it.

Korean products are one of the best when it comes to skincare routine. I would try the Shiseido cream like your recommendation. Thank you for the post. Wish you always stay beautiful Aimee!

Could you kindly tell me what the large clear bottle is in the first pic (somewhat hidden behind roses)? Looks like a toner, maybe.
And also the small pink and white tube in the first and last pic. It is pictured at far right, next to Sulwhasoo Essential Firming Cream.

Would love to know. Thanks so much!

  30. Hi Aimee,
I noticed that you suffer from eczema. Yes, I say ‘suffer’ because I first hand know the struggle. I’ve had eczema since before I could remember and found a lot of relief with Protopic after my derm had recommended it to me years ago. Applying it diligently and keeping away from heavily perfumed stuff has completely controlled it. Aside from old tiny scars on the inside of my arms it’s not noticeable at all now.
(Sounds like an ad, I know). BUT after reading your book, it’s helped me a lot and you’re so sweet, so I wanted to share my skin success with you, like you’ve done for others.
I wish you all the best!
