My Top 10 Travel Beauty Must Haves.

It took me several years of traveling and breaking out for me to get down with a beauty routine that works perfectly for my skin. It was only until late last year I stuck with a strict beauty regime and these products are ones I use on a daily basis as well as I always travel with.

1. Skin Inc Serums
I’ve talked about these serums many many times before (read my reviews here, here, and here) and here I go again. We all have different types of skin and different needs so these serums from Skin Inc literally cuts the B.S. out and gives you only the things you need. Just take the skin identity test to determine what your skin is lacking. For me, I have dehydrated and extremely sensitive skin (+ eczema) so I use the ceramide serum and hyluronic acid serum religiously.

2. Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream
I had a few Dr. Jart skincare products sent to me and I decided to give them a try since I’ve only used their BB cream before. Out of all the skincare products they sent me, this ceramidin cream and the ceramidin healing balm was my absolute favorite. At first, I was turned off by it’s brownish color thinking the lotion was tinted but it’s really hydrating and lightweight so you don’t feel like you have too much product on your face.

3. La Mer Creme de La Mer Moisturizing Cream
I’ve been using this particular product for at least a year and a half and this is only my second jar meaning, a little goes a long way. I use it sparingly mostly because it’s pricey but really, you don’t need much. I rub the product between my fingers for a few seconds then press it onto my skin focusing on my forehead, cheeks, and neck. My skin loooves this cream and I feel instantly hydrated for hours and hours. I used to wake up with dry skin in the morning but whenever I use this at night, my skin feels moistened until the next morning.

4. Skin Inc Snow White Mask
I don’t use this product that often simply because after I wash my face, I feel lazy to wash it again but if you want clear and brighter skin, I guess it doesn’t really matter. I use this snow white mask whenever I’m in the sun a lot since I tend to get dark very easily and get freckles and sun spots as well. I believe the recommended time is to leave it on for 10 minutes and wash it off but I get so distracted that I always leave it on for at least 20-30 minutes since I’m always answering my emails or snapchatting while I have the mask on. Even though I don’t use it often, I see visible results such as my skin looking brighter. Only downside is you look like a ghost (see proof here) so it’s better not to use it when you’re trying to sleep with someone or if they still love you despite your ghostlike face, then they’re a keeper!

5. Skin Inc Deep Sea Hydrating Mask (travel size here)
One of my favorite products from Skin Inc other than the serums have to be this hydrating mask. I put this product on my face during any flight that’s longer than 6 hours and wash it off right before I leave the plane. It keeps your face super hydrated and I feel like it prevents wrinkles. Whenever I feel like the weather is too dry or I feel exhausted, I put this on my skin and the coolness of the mask does make your skin feel better. Unlike the snow white mask above, it’s completely clear so you won’t look funny. I sometimes use the Pure Revival Peel before using this mask which basically is like an exfoliator except you don’t have to rub your skin hard. You gently massage your skin and all the dead skin cells come off. I heard moisturizing is important but also moisturizing onto clean skin was just as important for the products to work.

6. SK-II Essential Power Eye Cream
I’ve only been using this product for over a month now so I can’t see a big difference in fine lines disappearing but I do notice less under eye dark circles. I think of this product more as of a prevention measure as it’s hydrating. My only complaint is that whenever I put a little too much by accident, it droops into my eyes hence stings my eyes. Other than that, I like how hydrating it is.

7. La Mer The Eye Concentrate
I usually hate scented products but I absolutely love the smell of this cream. It comes with a metal applicator so I use that to apply onto my lids and I like the cold feeling of it. I feel like this cream is more hydrating than the SK-II product so if you have oily skin, this may not be the right product for you. However, if you’re dealing with major eye bags or if your eyes tend to get poofy then this is the perfect eye cream!

8. La Mer The Illuminating Eye Gel
I’ve been using this product on an almost daily basis for about 2 months now and I feel like the areas around my eyes look brighter. I’m not sure if it reduces wrinkles or anything but it is moisturizing although not as moisturizing as the eye concentrate above.

9. La Mer The SPF 30 UV Protecting Fluid
On a daily basis, I use a different sunscreen but when I travel, I always use this one from La Mer since it’s the perfect travel size and doesn’t disturb my sensitive skin. If you hate the feeling of applying sunscreen like my ex-boyfriend and rather not wear SPF (which is super dumb, don’t do it) then try a liquid/fluid type like this one. It’s super light and doesn’t smell like sunscreen which is my favorite part. The only downside is that one time the fluid dripped out of the package although it wasn’t much. It only happened once so I don’t know if I didn’t screw on the cap properly or what but to prevent any leakage I now put a tiny bit of saran wrap on the tip before I close the cap.

10. Skin Inc Onsen Mist
One time in high school I had a temporary job as an assistant to an insurance sales lady. She was in her late 30’s and had amazing skin and would always spray the Evian Mineral Water Facial Spray on top of her makeup whenever she was stressed which got me in the habit of spraying mist onto my face too. Well, I feel like this Onsen Mist is similar to that but even better. I spray it throughout the day and especially during a flight when I’m not able to put on my deep sea hydrating mask.

aimee_song_travel_beauty_products_la_mer_skin_incMost of the products are already small so you can bring them in your carry-on. For the Skin Inc pure revival peel and deep sea hydrating mask, I just use their travel size.

If you can only travel with 3 beauty products, what are your top 3?

  3. I want the Dr Jart cream, I have tried only a couple of samples but it seems that the products are really hight quality! SK-II is also on my list, they say it’s similar to sum37 products and I love this fermented stuff. La Mer seems to be really overpriced considering the ingredients, the formula is really old.

  4. Illuminating post, I’m definitely going to look into Skin Inc now. Philosophy’s Hope In a Jar for dry skin was what got me through extreme dry weather when I used to live out in the midwest and had to face harsh winters.

All these products sounds fantastic and really essential for a healthy skin care routine! I haven’t try most of them but will be looking into a few, especially the La Mer Creme de La Mer Moisturizing Cream! Can’t stress enough the importance of moisturizing the skin!

  6. I love La Mer products, they have been a staple in my beauty routine for years now. I can’t imagine not having them on my counter. Great product where you can really tell the differences. I love the eye balm, toner, moisturizer and body/hand lotions. Thank you for sharing.

  7. These are fabulous choices of products. I also adore the La Mer Gel moisturizing creme, the texture is almost flawless and it makes your skin feels like you just spent a couple of thousand dollars having a facelift … :). Speaking of which, it’s that time again when I need to order ramen noodles on the menu again … While my pocket recuperates from spending too much on luxury items. :)

  8. This post is wonderful, so much info we all need to know about! I tried Creme de la Mer once, and to be honest, for their price, it didn’t wow me at all! The 3 products I’d travel with would be L’Erbolario hand cream (any, they’re all amazing!), Nivea lip balm & Clinique hydrating moisturizer… With that I could survive! ;)
